H.O. Penn Machinery, the Caterpillar dealer for the New York Metro Area and all of the state of Connecticut, is hiring a Service Manager for Construction Equipment to join their Bronx, NY team!

Reporting to the General Manager of Service, this role is repsonsible for the following tasks:

Successfully deliver and sell service of recognized superior value by providing necessary key resources (people, materials, tooling, and time):

  • Have resources (people and equipment) to effectively perform service
  • Effectively utilize the resources
  • Generate growth through service sales

Maximize the effective and efficient use of the service processes to provide fast, accurate service and minimize unnecessary expense:

  • Effectively manage department operations
  • Continually monitor, measure, and improve processes
  • Forecast and budget resource to satisfy forecasts

Staff and develop people to achieve all key results to make our service function safe and strong:

  • Build and maintain environment characterized by safe work practices and high productivity and morale
  • Encourage safe work practices through enforcing timely completion of all safety initiatives including weekly safety meetings, monthly safety audits, new employee orientation and trainings
  • Select people
  • Effectively manage the performance process (goal setting, coaching, appraisal, and rewards/consequence management)
  • Develop people

Maintain the building and grounds in a cost effective manner to provide a safe, pleasant, and efficient working environment for employees and customers:

  • Maintain the building and grounds in a clean and uncluttered state
  • Maintain the building in sound working order
  • Ensure the building is secure from theft and/or damage

Contribute to positive customer experiences by maintaining the professionalism, appearance and accessibility of our facilities:

  • Continually assess the appearance, including cleanliness, professionalism, maintenance, and compliance with company policies of your area of responsibility
  • Take corrective action on any items noted during these ongoing assessments to ensure compliance with company appearance standards
  • Implement any approved company recommendations for creating a professional appearance and ensuring the accessibility of our facilities


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in supervisory/management capacity (minimum of 20 employees; union environment preferred)
  • Must have good computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must have an understanding of budgeting and forecasting
  • Must have a valid driver s license
