Organic Synthetic Chemist- Selkirk, NY 12158
12 months- contract to hire position

Responsibilities

This position will require conducting various laboratory tasks for new product development, new material evaluation, or new application development of existing products. This individual will be responsible for the preparation of new molecules and polymers. This position requires a good understanding of organic chemistry and the ability to apply scientific fundamentals to develop/optimize process conditions. The ability to conduct literature research and evaluate potential chemistries is a plus.
This position requires excellent communication skills with different stakeholders and effective project/time management skills to conduct multiple project tasks and meet timelines while paying the utmost attention to safe practices and conditions and data integrity. Working with minimal supervision, the individual should be able to multi-task within a dynamic team environment. This position may require work hour flexibility and overtime occasionally.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

BS/BA degree in chemistry with 1-3 years of industry experience (laboratory experience preferred)
Experienced in GC, IR, Thin Layer Chromatography , preferred but not required
Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals and solvents
Ability to conduct synthetic chemistry safely and efficiently
Excellent planning & organization skills
Excellent communication skills
Good attention to detail, maintain accurate notebook, focus on safety, self-motivated

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge related to synthetic organic chemistry
An understanding of both classical wet and polymer analytical methods
Experience working in an industrial laboratory environment
Knowledge in design of experiments or basic statistical analysis
