The embedded Analytical Technology organization helps drive business growth by applying a broad set of characterization capabilities to challenging research problems arising from product and process development and materials research programs and manufacturing, quality, and commercial operations. To strengthen our organization, we are currently looking for an experienced vibrational spectroscopist to join the team at our Selkirk, NY site. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to solve problems with innovative solutions and thrives in a collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will: o Conduct analytical research to support Specialties' technology programs o Develop and validate new spectroscopic methods to support new product development and applications for materials of interest to the Specialties SBU o Ensure high performance levels for all vibrational spectroscopy instrumentation by fully leveraging advanced analytical instrumentation (e.g. step-scan FTIR, micro- and nano-scale IR, photoacoustic spectroscopy, variable temperature IR, LC-IR, TGA-IR/-MS, in-situ reaction monitoring) and applying data analysis tools (e.g. chemometrics, 2D correlation) to evaluate the composition, structure, and properties of complex polymeric systems o Be responsible for all safety activities related to the Spectroscopy laboratory, including relentless attention to safe laboratory practices and conditions, Management of Change (MOC) procedures, and Safety Risk Assessments o Communicate key findings to colleagues via written reports and oral presentations and document results using data management systems o Serve as a vibrational spectroscopy subject matter expert during collaboration globally with project teams, manufacturing, and other analytical scientists to advance research programs, develop intellectual property, address customer and manufacturing issues, and develop new methods o Identify and articulate technical problems then develop, execute, and validate approaches to solve them, including by establishing new lab capabilities and external collaborations to access new technologies o Provide mentoring and coaching to other team members o Utilize effective time management skills to conduct multiple project tasks and meet timelines in a dynamic team environment o Participate actively in department life, including department meetings, cross-functional teams, and other related activities Note: SABIC Internal T&I Employees at grades 13-15 will be considered for this job. If T&I employee is selected for the role he/she will maintain his/her current grade and will be assigned work commensurate with their current grade. External Hires and Non T&I SABIC employees will be placed on the SABIC Technical Career Ladder depending on experience level, degree and proven technical knowledge; and will be assigned work commensurate with that grade.Salary Range: NAMinimum Qualification11 - 15 years
