JOB TITLE: Social Worker/Art Therapist PURPOSE: Residential Treatment Facilities serve emotionally vulnerable adolescent youth ages 12-21, who are challenged by psychiatric and trauma related issues. The RTFs provide intensive therapeutic and educational services within a highly structured residential program. They work in partnership with youth and families, to manage mental health symptoms and strengthen interpersonal relationships, while helping them externally utilize community support systems. Clinicians work as part of a treatment team to ensure that youth and families drive the focus of their treatment and are full-time partners in their own healing and recovery. The treatment team supports youth and families in developing the skills they require to keep safe from abuse, neglect and maltreatment, and to foster and strengthen connection to their home and communities. Our team assesses the individual psychiatric needs of youth, families within a culturally sensitive framework. Youth and families have direct input into their treatment as well as program performance and development. We utilize the trauma-informed Sanctuary Model of care in conjunction with BBI (Building Bridges Initiative) and evidence-based clinical interventions, to support youth and family in their healing and recovery. OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: The Residential Treatment FacilitySocial Worker/Art Therapistwill: + Be an active, solution-focused and collaborative member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team + Provide trauma-informed individual, group, family therapy to assigned caseload both at the RTF and in the resident s home communities + Conduct risk assessment and crisis response consistent with treatment goals + Provide psychoeducation and strengthen caregiver skills in supporting the psychiatric needs of the youth in preparation for return to their communities + Utilize assessments to inform clinical practice and treatment planning + Initiate and maintain contact with collateral service providers throughout admission and post-discharge + Participate in program development through attendance at meetings and committees + Prepare court reports and relevant legal documentation and attend court as clinically indicated + Document treatment progress utilizing the agency s electronic health record consistent with agency and Office of Mental Health regulations CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include: + Familiarity and experience with evidence based treatment modalities in conducting individual, group, and family therapy + Commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed practice + Embraces youth-guided family-driven care + Practices consistent with Sanctuary principles & values + Promotes teamwork + Good interpersonal communication and collaboration skills + Solution Focused + Uses Data to Inform & Guide Practice + Values and Demonstrates Cultural Competency + Values professional development and participation in clinical supervision and training REQUIREMENTS: + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Masters degree in social work, creative arts therapies, mental health counseling + Licensed (or eligible for licensure) by New York State + Literacy in Microsoft office, internet explorer + Valid Drivers License PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: + Clinical treatment experience with children, adolescents, and families in a psychiatric setting + Familiarity with NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Administration for Children Services (ACS) regulations + Bilingual(Spanish) Associated topics: clinical psychiatrist, dayrehab, mental health, psychiatry, psychology, psychotherapist, social behavior, social worker, sociology, therapist
